Only 4 places left on the last general public visit to the private silver collection at The Birmingham Assay Office this year.  Tickets are for Thursday 6th December and the visit starts at 11.00 am.  £12 per place.  To book call 0871 871 6020 or email silver@theassayoffice.co.uk  It's a really good start to the Christmas festivities and there is even a wonderful gift shop selling silver items all made here in Birmingham.

The jewellery trade faces many challenges. Not least among these is the need to train a new generation of highly skilled workers. How the requisite training can be delivered has been the subject of extensive discussions over a long period. However the hard work has finally born fruit. A training scheme has now been created.

   The winning piece by Nathalia Guarascio  This was the fifth year that the competition has been run and Tom Green (Chairman of Charles Green )and all the judges were impressed with both the design and CAD work of all the pieces, Tom said ‘each and every piece has its merits and we were delighted with the quality and originality of the work’. However there can be only one winner and this year’s prize of £250 and a week’s work experience at Charles Green…
