Recently at Assay Office Birmingham a lovely lady came to register her Sponsor's mark with us and we thought it would be nice to share the interesting articles she has begun submitting for Hallmarking.
Kathleen Carney who is based in Worcester, is a volunteer at her local Acorns Hospice. Kathleen takes her dog once every week to the hospice to see the children and brighten up their day.
Recently, Kathleen had been sorting through her late husband's belongings and came across a design for a piece of jewellery he had commissioned as a gift many years ago, and decided it would be a perfect design for Acorns to sell in order to help raise money for their charity.
The design is a necklace with 4 figures representing children of 4 different nationalities. Afro Caribbean, Chinese, Indian, and European. Each child has an Acorn on their foot.
Kathleen found a Birmingham based manufacturer to make the necklace for her in 925 silver and submitted her first item for assaying and hallmarking this week.
Faye Grove, Hallmarker, Assay Office Birmingham Kathleen is currently in the process of setting up a website where necklaces, pendants and brooches will be on sale. Proceeds will go to the very worth while charity Acorns.
We wish Kathleen lots of success for the website.
