The National Association of Goldsmiths held its 120^th Annual General Meeting  in the impressive and contemporary surroundings of the Saatchi Gallery yesterday.

Coinciding with the first day of the Jewellery and Watch London Show, the event attracted a significant number of members. Many were keen to understand more about the proposed unification of the British Jewellers Association and NAG into one industry association. The plans outlined by incoming NAG Chairman Andrew Hinds, who took over the baton from Pravin Pattni, were received very positively and members took the opportunity to ask constructive questions by way of clarification. There was a general air of enthusiasm about the venture and the project received the formal go ahead from NAG members.

The next steps will be progressed by a Working Party led by Andrew Hinds and BJA Chairman Gary Wroe  who will agree the structure of the new organisation, which will be part of the British Allied Trade Association, and the timeframes for implementing the changes required. The NAG are delighted that Margaret Harris has agreed to remain as President of the NAG for another term to support the two new Chairman in this important project. The AGM was followed by an excellent and very sociable lunch, giving members the time to socialise and network not only with one another but also with industry partners, colleagues and suppliers.
