EXPERT ANALYSIS ACROSS A RANGE OF SECTORS

Heritage Forum members The Birmingham Assay Office was delighted to welcome members of Birmingham Heritage Forum this week for their latest meeting. The Forum is made up of representatives from organisations concerned with collections, historic sites, museums, galleries, churches, gardens and visitor services within the Birmingham area. Its website www.birminghamheritage.org is one of the leading sites for heritage information for the region and each year it publishes the popular Birmingham Heritage leaflet which is available throughout the city. Sally Hoban, Heritage & Training Officer at the Assay Office, gave members a guided tour of the Silver Collection and Library before the meeting. Attendees came from the National Trust Back to Backs, The Barber Institute of Fine Arts, the RBSA, the Pen Museum, Saint Nicolas Place in King’s Norton, Birmingham City University, Birmingham Conservation Trust, St Martin’s in The Bullring, Newhall Mill, Winterbourne House and Garden, Blue Badge Guides, King Edward’s School, Guiding You Ltd, St Paul’s Church, Soho House, The Oratory, Selly Manor, Moseley Society, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens, The Lunar Society and Marketing Birmingham. Sally Hoban gave members a presentation on The Birmingham Assay Office: Past, Present and Future and Jo-Ann Curtis from Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery gave a presentation on the city-wide steering group involved in activities commemorating the First World War. Philip Aubury, who is Chair of the Heritage Forum, said how much the members had enjoyed their visit to the Assay Office. We look forward to welcoming them again in the future!
