Many congratulations go to Ian Bayley, Quality Manager & Senior Chemist at The Birmingham Assay Office who celebrated thirty years continuous service with the Office on 17th October.
Ian, who has a degree in Chemistry, is a Chartered Chemist and member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Chartered Quality Institute and Chartered Management Institute joined The Birmingham Assay Office on 17th October 1983 initially starting work as a Laboratory Technician.

 He went on to become Quality Manager and Senior Chemist in 2004 and is responsible for the Assay Office's business management systems, certified and accredited to ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 respectively, both at Central Office and its six Sub-Office locations.

He also ensures ongoing compliance with the certification requirements of the Responsible Jewellery Council.
Affiliated to the Trading Standards Institute, Ian is also the Officeâs principal contact with enforcement officers, co-operating with enforcing the requirements of the Hallmarking Act.
