Rachael Taylor @RachaelTaylorÂ andÂ Kathryn BishopÂ ?@LikeGoldDustÂ came to the Jewellery Quarter today to meet up with Michael Allchin, Chief Executive and Assay Master at The Birmingham Assay Office.Â The pair were keen to spend some time with Michael and catch up on Jewellery Industry Gossip

The two journalists who work for ITP Promedia - Rachael as Editor in Chief and Kathryn as Editor of Professional Jeweller - were able to tour the assaying and marking floors and Rachael took the opportunity whilst she was here to get her wedding ring assayed and hallmarked.

The two journalists also visited The analytical Laboratory and were fascinated to see the breath of chemical testing carried out here on a daily basis.

They also visited the SafeGuard Independent Jewellery, Watch and Silverware valuations service and met Operations Director Carla Goodfellow. Â There was also a sold out Jewellery Valuation Day taking place at the Office today so the team had their work cut out.

They completed their tour in the AnchorCert Gemstone Lab and whilst they were at lunch with Michael the gemmologists very kindly offered to test and certificate Rachael's diamond ring. Â Now that's what we call Express Customer Service!!! Â AnchorCert are getting ready for their Trade Open Day tomorrow which promises to be a very informative and extremely interactive day.
