EXPERT ANALYSIS ACROSS A RANGE OF SECTORS

The Jewellery Show London reported an 11% year-on-year rise in visitor numbers and a 68% rise in revisits on the second day during its two-day event at Somerset House last week.  More than 160 jewellery and watch brands exhibited at the show which expanded to three floors for 2013. An array of Designers and brands were on show.

Over 160 watch and jewellery brands showcased their collections and retailers to the show included buyers from such high profile names as John Lewis, Asos, House of Fraser http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk, Harrods and Fenwick.

Michael Allchin Chief Executive and Assay Master of The Birmingham Assay Office opened the Jewellery Show London series of seminars on Tuesday with a session entitled

"An overview of the jewellery industry: Where is the market headed?"

The many attendees were able to listen to an analysis of the latest trade figures and discuss the new opportunities for retailers for the coming year. Michael Allchin also facilitated a panel discussion in the afternoon entitled: Raising the Ethical Question:  Improving transparency from source to store

Dr. Gaetano Cavalieri - President, CIBJO, joins Tim Dabson - Diamond Trading Company, Michael Allchin - Birmingham Assay Office, Alan Frampton-CRED Jewellery and Dr Jack Ogden -Gemmological Association of Great Britain.

Visitors included retailers and represenatatives from businesses including Swag, Goldsmiths, Signet Group, Mappin and Webb, Harrods, and jewellers Charles Fish and Laing the Jeweller were also in attendance.  It seems the show suited many retailers buying schedules as they look to review their stores Christmas collections.

AnchorCert Gemmological Office and SafeGuard Jwellery Valuation Service also had a very successful show.  Birmingham based international jewellery designer Fei Liu said: “We have had some great orders for our new collections and lots of interest in the brand so it has been a really busy show for us. It is great to exhibit in this amazing historic location and the ideal setting for big retailers to peruse collections.”
