The Birmingham Assay Office was delighted to host the launch of a book published by Ashgate entitled ‘Matthew Boulton; Enterprising Industrialist of the Enlightenment’ at the Assay Office earlier in the year. [caption id="attachment_5283" align="aligncenter" width="448"] Dr Sally Baggott with Malcolm Dick[/caption] After the successful Boulton 2009 Conference at the University of Birmingham, which The Birmingham Assay Office sponsored, respected academic publishers Ashgate commissioned the book based on a selection of the Conference papers. Dr Sally Baggott, the then curator of The Assay Office, co-edited the book and her paper was also included in it.  The launch, which was attended by over forty academics and other interested parties from the heritage community, was a resounding success.
