FAMILY PRIVATE VIEW AT THINKTANK SCIENCE MUSEUM

 “WE MADE IT GALLERY”

Wardens, Guardians, Directors, Present and Past Staff and family were all recently invited to a Private View of the NEW  “We Made It Gallery” at Thinktank Science Museum, Birmingham.

The project has taken over three years since The Birmingham Assay Office agreed to sponsor the ‘Treasure’ section of the gallery. The association with Thinktank is significant for The Birmingham Assay Office because this is a SCIENCE museum. It presents what we do as an important, current activity, rather than just looking back at our history. [caption id="attachment_4763" align="aligncenter" width="410"] Anu Manchanda in Treasure Section of the We Made It Gallery at Thinktank Science Museum Birmingham[/caption] ‘Treasure’ focuses on precious possessions made from gemstones and precious metals and, with our help, Thinktank have created brilliant interactive displays which allow visitors to better understand the principle and practice of hallmarking. They can also “inspect” gemstones and “try on” jewellery in the BLING section. The objective of our sponsorship is to showcase the importance of everything we do at The Birmingham Assay Office and bring it to the attention of the many thousands of people who visit Thinktank every year.

You're NEVER too young to start to ACCESSORISE - Bling is definitely my thing !!

We are really proud of “Treasure” and we wanted to share it with The Birmingham Assay Office family. The event started at 5.30pm and for those coming by car free parking at the Millennium Point multi-storey car park was generously  provided by Thinktank. Both Birmingham Assay Office and Thinktank staff were on hand to greet guests as they arrived at the Museum Entrance. [caption id="attachment_4807" align="aligncenter" width="358"] Welcome to The Adams Family: L-R Uncle Fester, Thing, Wednesday (unusually for her, with a smiling face) and Mortica!!![/caption] Once inside guests were able to explore the Ground Floor of the Museum before heading up to Level 1 where refreshments were on offer.  The amazingly knowledgeable and patient Thinktank staff were on hand to talk about the exhibits and to help guests - old and young - enjoy all of the interactive facilities.

The Director of Thinktank, Simon Kane, along with the senior management team welcomed The Birmingham Assay Office to the Private View of the NEW “We Made It Gallery” and explained to the guests present how the gallery which had been several years in the making had been supported and promoted by The Birmingham Assay Office from its earliest days.

Michael Allchin, Chief Executive of The Birmingham Assay Office also welcomed the guests to this unique and very special event and asked for the NEW Gallery which we have been very proud to support, to be opened for viewing.
