Fundraisers and patients at Acorns Hospice had an early Christmas present last week when Kathy McMillen, Operations Manager for The Birmingham Assay Office presented them with a cheque for£400. The Assay Office pledged the money when they took the decision to send electronic Christmas cards for the first time this year, giving the money saved on postage to this worthwhile local charity.
Kathy, a long time supporter of Acorns, presented the cheque during their Christmas Carol Service, an event which was even more poignant than usual.  Acorns provides care and respite care for local life limited and life threatened children and their families and the service included film of the children responding to music therapy provided by some of the expensive equipment they have acquired this year. The results have been miraculous in some cases, with  one little girl who has previously been unable to speak suddenly starting to sing. Kathy delivered the cheque in front of a highly emotionally charged audience and it was received with huge appreciation. Â
Chief Executive Michael Allchin said âThe work which Acorns do is fantastic and the children and families they support would be lost without them. The organisation has enriched so many lives - Â we are always pleased to help themâ.
Happy Christmas to all at Acorns from
