The AnchorCert Gemmologists were pleased to welcome Alan Hodgkinson, FGA, DGAÂ , for a tour of the AnchorCert Gemmological Laboratory today.
He said he 'enjoyed his visit' and remarked that he thought it must be 'amazing to be able to work with both bench gemmology and lab gemmology'.
Whilst Alan inspected the AnchorCert Lab, his wife, Charlotte, had a tour of the private Silver Collection and also visited the Hallmarking Department.

Alan has an international reputation as a gemmology lecturer. He gained a distinction in the gemmology exams in 1961 and started teaching gemmology in 1969. He developed the first Uk residential courses in practical gemmology and has widely promoted his development of Visual Optics.Â
Alan has been awarded many honours including lifetime awards from the AGTA of America, the American Gem Traders' Association and Lifetime Honorary member of Gem-A and the Scottish Gemmological Association. He is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths.
Alan is in the Midlands this weekend for The Gemmological Association Midlands Branch Diamond Anniverary Celebrations 2012 at The Menzies Strathallan Hotel. He well be giving a presentation on Sunday 2nd December on the unusual gemstones he has encountered during the past twelve months.Â
