Our popular Buying Scrap Gold and Silver course has recently been expanded to include a section on the new Gold Standard â a voluntary code of practice for all those engaged in buying scrap gold and silver.
The Standard is a joint initiative between the British Jewellersâ Association (BJA), the Association of Chief Police Officers, Trading Standards Institute, the National Measurement Office, the National Association of Goldsmiths (NAG), and the National Pawnbrokers Association (NPA).
You can register for the Standard free at www.bja.org.uk/en/the-gold-standard/index.cfm
The course also includes an introduction to understanding Hallmarking legislation and identifying Hallmarks on jewellery, and testing precious metals using touch acids and XRF. Peter Middleton, who is Director of Gold Reserves in Swansea, attended the course recently and said: âWe enjoyed a well-paced course with an incredible amount of information presented in just one day. We will be sending our other staff to benefit from this great pool of knowledge!â
Sally Hoban, Heritage & Training Officer at the Assay Office says: âThere are only four delegates on each Buying Scrap Gold and Silver course, and this group size means that delegates can specify in advance what they would like to achieve from the training according to their own level of expertise.â
The next course runs on January 30th. Follow this link to download the form and book a place today! http://www.theassayoffice.co.uk/images/pdfs/scrapmetalseminar.pdf
