EXPERT ANALYSIS ACROSS A RANGE OF SECTORS

A number of jewellery graduates have joined forces to host a Christmas pop-up shop in Birmingham called No.22, offering hand-made jewellery Christmas gifts. The shop is named after the store space at number 22 in the city’s Great Western Arcade, where the pop-up will be hosted, and has been launched with a help from Birmingham City Council and its Design Space, a business premises facility, which many of the jewellery designers are part of. Twelve jewellers are taking part in the pop-up: Amy Logan, Steve Kukla, Amanda Trimmer, Chloe Hurn, Rosie White, Elizabeth Boyd, Joanna Fronczak, Lana Crabb, Jessica Nam, Tom Asquith, Karen Collis and Sarah Manterfield. A number of them showed work at the New Designers graduate show, hosted in London during the summer. The space will open on November 3, running through November and December. The jewellers will be on hand in the shop during the pop-up, “to share insight into the jewels, discuss bespoke commissions and help make gift buying the enjoyable activity it should be”. They will also be offering luxury gift-wrapping in store. Lana Crabb said: “The No.22 Shop in the Great Western Arcade is such an exciting opportunity for us as makers to engage shoppers with contemporary, hand-made gifts that are truly unique and something you really cannot find anywhere else. “I’m really looking forward to delivering a fantastic jewellery-buying experience to remember and help find the perfect present that will enchant the recipient and be treasured way past New Year.” The 12 jewellers taking part have said the pop-up is the first in a number of events that they will be individually involved with over the coming year, including The Jewellery Show at the Spring Fair and the British Craft Trade Fair in Harrogate.
