The generosity of Michaelâs friends, family, work colleagues and the CMJ has been truly overwhelming and has resulted in over £12,000 being raised for Cyclists Fighting Cancer, a small charity based in Stratford upon Avon whose purpose is to provide bikes, adapted tricycles and equipment to children and young people whose lives have been affected by cancer.
Michael said âInitially we raised enough money to buy a custom built tricycle for a little girl, poignantly named Hope. Hope is just 8 years old and is suffering from a brain tumour. Â
She relapsed earlier this year and she and her family have been through an unimaginably tough time. The trike will make a huge difference to Hope and her family. The money has continued to flood in and we are on course to buy EIGHT trikes with two more personally pledged by CMJ members. I am over whelmed by the generosity. THANK YOU!â
Fundraising at The Birmingham Assay Office included a very successful Coffee Morning on 27thSeptember and a Sweep Stake to guess how long it would take Michael to complete the course with the winner being Tina Watts from the marking floor. The Social Club also presented Michael with a cheque for £50. Michaelâs time was 4 hours 11minutes.
A truly heroic effort.
