The Olympics and Paralympics of a lifetime are over for Britain and The Laboratory is suddenly more monochrome.
The build up to London 2012 brought an avalanche of red, white and blue products to The Laboratory from key rings to disco boppers and âbig handsâ to Union Jack flags. Testing for nickel, lead and cadmium was at a premium and the organic specialists were busy too, checking textiles for azo dyes, fibre composition, flammability, Formaldehyde, Phthalates, Alkyltin compounds, Alkylphenol ethoxylates and derivatives and colour fastness.
Packaging for official gifts was also analysed to ensure that every piece met the strict âlow carbonâ LOCOG policy of the Games, with no traceable toxic elements or compounds.
