Our first farewell in August was to Ron Hodgetts who completed an amazing 50 years of service with the Assay Office. Ron joined the Assay Office on his 15th birthday with his job being to pedal around the Jewellery Quarter, collecting and delivering parcels of work for hallmarking on his bicycle! Ron's career developed as he went on to learn the skills to hand mark and latterly took on the opportunity to pioneer hallmarking by laser when this was introduced in 1997.

In September we said farewell to Sheila Bagley and Pam Bannister. Sheila has completed 33 years of service and will be a familiar face to many of our customers who visit the trade counter. Pam, who is a member of the sampling department, retires after 16 years service in a department which has seen significant change since she joined following the introduction of XRF testing.
We wish Ron, Sheila and Pam a long, happy and healthy retirement!
