EXPERT ANALYSIS ACROSS A RANGE OF SECTORS

As part of the celebrations for British Silver Week 2012, the Assay Office hosted two special visits to its silver collection and library on 20th June. Members of the public visited the Assay Office to see the collection and hear about its history before visiting a selling exhibition of contemporary silver in the showroom of Cookson Precious Metals in Victoria Street. The aim of the day was to highlight the history of jewellery making and silver smithing in Birmingham and introduce visitors to contemporary silver by five very talented British silverware designer makers. Laura Golborne a local silversmith was on hand to talk to the visitors and give details about the pieces and the artists.
