The Birmingham Assay Office was pleased to support British Silverweed (BSW) - Festival of Silver again this year by sponsoring the presence of five talented young designer makers at the Birmingham selling exhibition hosted by Cookson Precious Metals at their showroom in Birminghamâs Jewellery Quarter. Emma Daniels, Ryan McClean, Christopher Hay, Drew Markou, and Simon Pattison exhibited their work at the Press Day Launch of BSW at the Pangolin Gallery on 14thMay and again for the week-long event hosted by Cooksons. Birmingham based Silversmith/jewellery maker Laura Golborne, curated the exhibition with BSW Director Gordon Hamme and was on hand all week, providing visitors with information about the artists and their work. The exhibition started with a Private View on Monday 18th June which was attended by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham and many of the Cityâs business, creative and educational leaders. The selling event continued throughout the rest of the week. To coincide with the exhibition, The Birmingham Assay Office also arranged two special British Silver Week âpublicâ visits to both the private Silver Collection at the Assay Office and the contemporary silverware exhibition at Cooksons. The two events were a huge success and were attended by large numbers of the general public.
