Over 100,000 precious metal items have been struck with the special Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Hallmark by the four UK Assay Offices and demand for this mark is continuing to grow. The Birmingham Assay Office commissioned Birmingham based Silversmith Andrew McGowan to make a Sterling Silver Bowl which has been struck with the commemorative hallmark and will be presented to H.M The Queen to celebrate her 60th year on the throne. Goldsmith and Silversmith Martin Pugh, a Warden of The Birmingham Assay Office, has made a collection of commemorative spoons, inspired by The Queenâs Diamond Jubilee and forthcoming 2012Olympic Games. The twenty silver and twelve silver gilt spoons, which bear the Diamond Jubilee hallmark on the end knops have been designed particularly for collectors as they celebrate the two biggest events of 2012. Made to commission by Styles of Hungerford, the limited edition collection of spoons was launched at Styles on 11th June and will be exhibited at the British Silver Week exhibition at The Goldsmiths Centre in London in July. Customers can continue to request the Queens âDiamond Jubilee commemorative mark until 1stOctober 2012. For more information call 0871871 6020 or email gem@theassayoffice.co.uk
