EXPERT ANALYSIS ACROSS A RANGE OF SECTORS

The 2012 Birmingham launch of the BSW festival of silver took place on Monday 18th June. [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="448" caption="Lord and Lady Mayoress of Birmingham"][/caption] The selling exhibition began at Cooksons Precious Metals with a private view of pieces from Silversmiths based in Birmingham and the West Midlands. On show as well were pieces from the 'rising stars' sponsored by Cooksons.  [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="448" caption="Stella Layton CEO Cooksons Precious Metals"][/caption] The event was  extrememly well attended by Birmingham's Business, Creative and Educational leaders, The Lord Mayor Councillor John Lines was present to view some of the best that Birmingham has to offer. [caption id="attachment_1956" align="alignleft" width="448" caption="Silversmiths Gemma Daniels and Laura Golborne (L-R)"][/caption] The Birmingham Assay Office was proud to sponsor the event and sponsor Gemma Daniels, Christopher Hay, Drew Markou, Simon Pattison and Ryan McClean, whose emerging silver pieces where all on display. Birmingham based Silversmith/jewellery maker Laura Golborne, curated the exhibition with BSW director Gordon Hamme and was on hand all week, providing visitors with information about the artists and their work. To coincide with the exhibition, The Birmingham Assay Office also arranged two special British Silver Week 'public' visits to both the private Silver Collection at The Assay Office and the contemporary silverware exhibition at Cooksons. The two events were a huge success and were attended by large numbers of the general public.
