There was great excitement amongst the technicians in The Laboratory in March when a new piece of ICP (Inductively coupled plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry) equipment was installed.
The new equipment has been acquired to allow The Laboratory to meet the demand generated by the forthcoming change to the statutory method for testing that nickel release does not exceed the legal compliance rates.Â
Although the compliance level itself has not changed the new method has effectively lowered it significantly, requiring much more sensitive equipment to analyse the results accurately.
