Andy McGowan's one kilogram 'Investment Bowl' made from 999 silver is a quirky but appropriate product in a year when many are stockpiling precious metals, considering them a safer investment than other options.

The bowl is a satisfying piece in its own right, simple and surprisingly heavy and the Wardens of The Birmingham Assay Office had no hesitation commissioning a special version for the Office's private silver collection.
The commissioned piece weighs 60 ounces, marking 60 years of Her Majesty's reign and is resplendent with a full spread hallmark including, of course, the Diamond Jubilee Mark.
Kay Alexander, Chairman of The Assay Office says "we always like to commission beautiful pieces that we can use and this will be a wonderful addition to our collection in this special Jubilee Year. We will not easily forget the impact that high precious metal prices have had on our business over the past few years, but this bowl demonstrates the minimal and elegant style of the early 21st Century".
