Birmingham Assay Office hosted their annual Careers Event 2023
Over 100 students, graduates and jewellery hobbyists registered to attend the annual Careers Event held at the Birmingham Assay Office on Thursday 23rd March 2023.
This free event offered visitors the opportunity to meet, network and get expert advice from key businesses in the trade whilst also finding out about potential job opportunities.
Attendees were able to engage with a range of different trade exhibitors including Betts Metals, Hockley Mint, Vipa Designs and the National Association of Jewellers. They also had the chance to attend talks delivered by Marie Brennan from the Birmingham Assay Office, Marie Chalmers from Chalmers Gems, Peter Crump from Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council and Michael Goode from the Birmingham Assay Office who spoke on a range of subjects from Gemmology through to Allergy Protection.
Those who attended were given the opportunity to join behind the scenes tours of the Birmingham Assay Office Hallmarking Floor, as well as view hallmarking and gemmology demonstrations at the Assay Office stand.
This year’s Careers Event tied in with the Goldsmiths Craft and Design Council Award Exhibition held at the Birmingham Assay Office which showcased a selection award winning pieces from designers across the UK. The awards encourage and promote the pursuit of excellence in craftmanship and design. The exhibition was also open to the public throughout the week of the Careers event.
Thank you to everyone who attended, exhibited and assisted with the set up of the Careers Event to help make it such a success.
