Carol Brady to step down as Birmingham Assay Office Chair
The Chair of the Birmingham Assay Office, Carol Brady MBE, has announced she will step down from the role in October 2022. Carol will be succeeded by Russell Jeans in October as the designated Chair following the interim meeting.
Russell, a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and a postgraduate of Warwick Business School joined as a Guardian in 2020, followed by his appointment as a Warden in April 2021.
Russell has worked his way up the financial and operational management ladder in a range of challenging manufacturing and service sector environments. Russell spent 12 years at the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce including, the roles of Commercial Director and Chief Operating Officer. More recently, Russell has become the Founder and CEO of Sefton & Associates, a Recruitment and Management Consultancy business that operates in the UK, Europe, and the US.

Carol Brady joined the Birmingham Assay Office as a Guardian in 2014 and was elected Chair in 2018. She has played an instrumental role in the development of the Office with her extensive experience in consumer and regulatory policy. Carol was previously the Chair of the Chartered Trading Standards Institute and is currently a Commissioner for the Gambling Commission.
Carol said: “It has been a pleasure and a privilege to serve not only as a Guardian but as a Warden and, of course, be bestowed the auspicious position of Chair. I want to thank everyone at the Birmingham Assay Office for their hard work, commitment, and dedication in making the office the success it is today.”

It also means that there will be a vacancy within the Warden’s committee. The position will be filled from within the talented pool of Guardians.
