EXPERT ANALYSIS ACROSS A RANGE OF SECTORS

Demi Beddow, Chemist technician at the Birmingham Assay Office and Niall Hope, Research and development chemist at the Birmingham Assay Office, have been selected for the Retail Jeweller Rising Stars 30 Under 30

We are pleased to announce that Demi Beddow, Chemist technician at the Birmingham Assay Office and Niall Hope, Research and development chemist at the Birmingham Assay Office, have been selected for the Retail Jeweller Rising Stars 30 Under 30, in association with WOLF.

Rising Stars 30 under 30 are the brightest talents, aged 30 or under, working across all areas of the jewellery industry, from manufacture and design through to retail, marketing and PR.

Demi Beddow joined the analytical team at Birmingham Assay Office on a 12-month apprenticeship programme, and it was clear from the outset that she was one to hold on to. The business encouraged her to continue studying and has since seen Beddow grow into an extremely capable chemistry technician. She has gained no fewer than five industry qualifications, the most recent of which she completed this year when she received a distinction in the HND Level 5 Laboratory Scientist programme. The Birmingham Assay Office said Beddow is living proof that apprenticeships are of real value to both the business and the individual, giving them a chance to develop new practical skills while gaining recognised qualifications.

Niall Hope first joined the analytical team at Birmingham Assay Office as a technician and was quickly promoted to a chemist position due to his qualifications and his can-do attitude. Before long, he moved on to the position of research and development chemist, as his hunger for learning new skills and his inquisitiveness in solving problems and desire to gain more knowledge grew. Hope works alongside the Birmingham Assay Office’s technical director and recently, along with the company’s brand manager, embarked on an exciting new venture developing a programme to enable other labs across the world to carry out test methods developed by the team in Birmingham.
