She writes about the industrial history of the Black Country and Birmingham. Her book on the history of the Jewellery Quarter will be published this year.
Sally Hoban is Heritage and Training Officer at Birmingham Assay Office and also works as a design, antiques and art consultant. She has written Miller's Collecting Modern Design and is researching for a PhD at the University of Birmingham on women designers of the Arts and Crafts Movement in the Midlands. Dr Connie Wan recently completed a PhD at the University of Birmingham on the Lines Family of artists. She works at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and co-ordinates the research seminars for the Friends of the Centre for West Midlands History: www.cwmh.bham.ac.uk
