EXPERT ANALYSIS ACROSS A RANGE OF SECTORS

One of the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, SGS, have today become the first AnchorCert Pro Licensee.

AnchorCert Pro was developed by a research and development team at the AnchorCert Analytical lab in the Birmingham Assay Office.  The test identifies and measures metal elements that could cause allergic contact dermatitis (ACD).

ACD, which is commonly caused from jewellery, can create itchy or painful skin irritation, skin redness, inflammation, and severe rashes, sometimes leaving permanent scarring. According to Allergy UK, allergic reactions affect up to 20% of the global population, with the UK having some of the highest prevalence of allergic conditions in the world.

Retailers and brands are increasingly looking to AnchorCert Pro to enable them to offer their customers increased protection against Allergic Contact Dermatitis (ACD). For AnchorCert Analytical, this presented a unique challenge that called for a unique solution.

Until now, manufacturers of retailers and brands using AnchorCert Pro have had to send items for testing to the AnchorCert Analytical Laboratory in Birmingham. But, as Rebecca Ray, AnchorCert Pro Brand Manager explained, “It is very much part of our long-term strategy to focus on our R & D expertise so, in order to meet the increasing AnchorCert Pro testing requirements of both retailers and brands, we have developed a software application which can be used by Laboratories around the world accredited to ISO/IEC 17025.”

For many brands and retailers, being able to have their products tested at the source of manufacture is vital. The licence model ensures that the brands and retailers can continue to use AnchorCert Pro whilst maintaining their existing supplier relationships and maintain lead time efficiency.

Shooin Chang, Hardlines Director SGS China said: “SGS is delighted to be working with AnchorCert Analytical, part of the Birmingham Assay Office, and to be accredited to the AnchorCert Pro Standard. This exciting new partnership will allow our Brand and Retail clients to ensure an even higher level of consumer product safety and Quality assurance within their Jewellery products scope.”

Rebecca Ray added: “Compliance with AnchorCert Pro offers brands and retailers alike a number of benefits including increased sales, reduced returns and increased customer loyalty so it’s little surprise that there has been such phenomenal interest. We are delighted to be working with SGS as we look to move forward with our global ambition for AnchorCert Pro.”
