In line with the decisions taken by many other businesses across the UK following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday evening, and to protect our employees as well as the integrity of our business, it is with regret that we have to advise you that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Birmingham Assay Office will be closing all operations at the end of business on Tuesday 24th March 2020 for the 3 weeks stipulated by the Government.
Our current plan is to ensure that all hallmarking orders that are currently in progress will be cleared and despatched or made available for collection before the close of business on Tuesday 24th March at 4pm.
If you have a current order being processed through SafeGuard, the Gem Lab or the Analytical Laboratory you will be contacted separately with a full and comprehensive up-date.
Orders which have not been despatched, collected or completed by close of play on Tuesday will be held in the secure environment at the Assay Office until we re-open.
Please can we remind you of our terms and conditions concerning insurance. It is the responsibility of the customer to insure any stock which is in transit to, or on the premises of the Assay Office.
Your primary contacts here at the Assay Office will remain available during the closure if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to call or email.
