EXPERT ANALYSIS ACROSS A RANGE OF SECTORS

Michael Rawlinson, Chief Executive of the National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) discusses how the jewellery industry could benefit from a 'Made in Britain' mark.

In a recent article by Professional Jeweller, Michael Rawlinson is quoted:

"I have always said that Britain leads the world in design and, in many areas, craft and manufacturing skills too. This is very much the case in jewellery, gold and silver smithing. We have many world renowned jewellers who have a great profile on the world stage. But how do we showcase and raise the profile of others who manufacture here in Great Britain?"

A trademarked 'Made in Britain' logo already exists, which originated as a commercial campaign in 2011 and is now a not-for-profit company. Michael will be spending some time researching this mark and putting together a proposal for the Association's National Committee, as well as the industry.
