The phased move to our new, purpose-built Assay Office in Birmingham’s thriving Jewellery Quarter is running smoothly. We are working hard to ensure that we minimise business disruption for everyone.
It is business as usual throughout for all our customers but there is IMPORTANT NEW INFORMATION below which you need to be aware of so please take the time to read this.
We will continue to operate from our existing NEWHALL STREET building until FRIDAY 24th JULY 2015
We will operate from our new building in MORETON STREET from MONDAY 27th JULY 2015
Please note there will be no Same Day or Next Day service for Hallmarking on Friday 24th July
From MONDAY 27th JULY 2015 our new address is 1 Moreton Street, Birmingham, B1 3AX
WE WILL HAVE A NEW TELEPHONE SYSTEM BUT ALL TELEPHONE NUMBERS AND EMAIL ADDRESSES REMAIN THE SAME.

The new building will have a variety of access and parking provisions.
The Goods In entrance is clearly marked on the map by the green circle.
CUSTOMER PARKING:
We have negotiated with the City Council to establish short stay bays on Moreton Street, right outside the Customer Service Reception entrance. We are awaiting these being created by the City Council. There will be eight bays on Moreton Street and seven on Pope Street. Please ensure you do not inadvertently park in a Permit Holders space unless you have a permit; the Traffic Wardens are keen, as they are throughout the Quarter.
There are also a number of public car parks in close proximity to our new location for those who need to visit for longer.
CUSTOMER SERVICES:
Our new Customer Service counter provides customers wishing to drop off items for all departments with a friendly, secure and efficient service.
GOODS IN:
To offer our customer a more secure delivery and collection point for high value goods we have created a secure, one-way ‘drive-through’ for customers with bulk drop-off or high value items, accessible from Moreton Street.
This ‘drive-through’ will allow one vehicle at a time through, with our Security team on hand to assist drivers and customers utilising this service. There will be an on-street intercom, positioned adjacent to the Customer Services entrance.
This could mean that there is a slight delay at times, as we ensure the safe transfer of goods prior to allowing the next vehicle through.
If you would like to register to use this ‘drive-through’ service, please send an email to gem@theassayoffice.co.uk with the following information. These details will be recorded and held by our Security team providing you with quick and easy access to our new ‘drive-through.
