To open an account, please follow the steps listed below:

You may open an online account with us (MY ANCHORCERT). You will need to log on to our website with your own account log-in name and password to have access to the information stored in your account. Your online account will NOT be linked to any account you may already have with Assay Office Birmingham.

Once you have created your 'My AnchorCert Account', please proceed below to Hallmark Registration and Sponsor Mark Registration.

Complete the Registration Form and Pay for Registration

The standard Registration fee set by the British Hallmarking Council is £60.00 pounds + VAT. Your registration is specifically with Assay Office Birmingham. It will last for a 10 year period. Re-registration is currently £30.00 pounds + VAT.

Select your Sponsor Mark – Order your Punch

Your unique sponsor mark provides traceability as your initials, set in a shape unique to you, are a compulsory part of every hallmark struck. It is a legal requirement that all registrations have at least one physical punch. This will be made within two weeks of your sponsor mark being approved and your registration will be complete.

The cost of a punch is £70.00 pounds for two initials or £80.00 pounds for three initials. Trademarks and variations from the standard shapes are also available and will attract an additional charge.

Assay Office Birmingham offers a fast and efficient punch manufacturing service using state of the art laser machines. Flat or curved punches on ‘traditional straight’ or ‘swan neck’ shanks are available. Just provide us with the artwork and we can do the rest.

The punches are cut by laser or CNC and finished by hand to an exceptional standard and are suitable for hand marking or marking by machine. Normal punches can be made in a range from 0.4mm to an upper limit of 6mm. In some cases where the design allows, bigger punches can be produced.

Dealer Notices

All dealers must clearly exhibit the latest British Hallmarking Council notice which sets out all the new hallmarks that can be stamped on precious metals.

The cost for purchasing ONE Dealers Notice is £10.00 pounds plus postage and packaging.

Dealers Notices can be collected from either our Customer Service counter or can be purchased online.
