At the Jewellery & Giftware Ball which was held at the end of 2014 Mr Tom Green of Charles Green & Son generously bid £1,750 to host a rare and unique experience at Assay Office Birmingham. The money raised from this went to The Benevolent Society - a wonderful charity that helps those who have worked in the jewellery trade and who may have fallen upon hard times. As part of the experience a luncheon was held at Assay Office Birmingham, attended by Chief Executive and Assay Master Stella Layton as well as other Society members and guests of Mr Tom Green.
A three course lunch was organised and served in the boardroom, which was then followed by an exclusive private tour of the impressive Assay Office Birmingham Silver Collection and Library.
The package was hosted by Assay Office Birmingham with food and wine co-sponsored by both the Assay Office and Global Bullion.
The British Jewellery, Giftware and Finishing Federation Benevolent Society financially assists individuals that have worked within the giftware, jewellery, surface engineering and travelgoods and fashion accessories industries.
The Benevolent Society helps those in need in a number of ways:
Each year, all beneficiaries are invited to attend a day trip funded by the Society. This has proven to be a fun day out, greatly enjoyed by all attendees. For some of the beneficiaries, this excursion may be the only outing they have all year.
The annual Jewellery and Giftware Ball is held to raise money for the Benevolent Society. This popular event is always a great night out; featuring live bands, DJ’s and auctions it’s an event not to be missed!
The BJGF Benevolent Society is a registered charity (no. 208722) and is therefore reliant on fundraising and donations to be able to keep running. For further information or to make a donation please contact Lynn Snead on 0121 745 4613 or visit www.batf.uk.com/en/benevolent-society.
