It was a pleasure to have with us staff from QVC who attended a one-day training course on Understanding Jewellery. Delegates included TV presenters, those who write content for the website and assistant buyers.
The course, was conducted by David Byrne, a member of the Institute of Registered Valuers , who provided QVC staff with an overivew of jewellery manufacture, terminology, and and insight into the characteristics, qualities and treatments of diamonds and gemstones.
As part of their day, delegates were given guided tours around different divisions of Assay Office Birmingham to help them understand the hallmarking process and other specialised expertise available .
They visited the AnchorCert Gem Lab, where they were greeted by Jayne Wright (AnchorCert and SafeGuard Operations Manager) and Anu Manchanda (Senior Gemmologist). They were fascinated to see the array of sophisticated equipment which AnchorCert Gem Lab has in order to correctly assess and identify white diamonds, coloured diamonds, gemstones of all kinds, and pearls.
Later on during their day, they visited the hallmarking department, where they were given demonstrations on the punch mark and laser marking process and had a go at hallmarking.
It was fantastic to have such a high-profile company like QVC choose us for their staff's training needs. The delegates thoroughly enjoyed their day and found it very worthwhile.
