Members of staff from the Company of Master Jewellers - CMJ - recently attended the Understanding Watches training course at Assay Office Birmingham.
The course, was carried out by Peter Tales a respected Horology Consultant and a Senior Examiner at the British Horological Institute. The course allowed the attendees to gain more knowledge about the technical aspects and benefits of of differnt tyes of wathces and their functionality as well as some rules on spotting the difference between a real and a fake watch.
There are still places available to come onto the FINAL Understanding Watches course which is taking place on Wednesday 20th May before we move into our new building this Summer.

This hands-on course is intended for retail staff or enthusiasts who already have some experience of watches. The one day course will provide an understanding of the technical aspects and benefits of different types of watches, improving confidence when selling. It will also teach basic practical skills which will enable delegates to diagnose possible faults and carry out maintenance repairs. The course gives each delegate a chance to handle and study watches closely, and disassemble items using standard basic tools. It also includes a rare opportunity to visit the Hallmarking Operation at Assay Office Birmingham, which is not usually open to the public. The course provides six hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity.
The cost of the course is £195 pounds + VAT per delegate.
