Assay Office Birmingham Analytical Laboratory has been re branded as AnchorCert Analytical, marking its continuing expansion into new sectors alongside its traditional links with the Fine and Costume jewellery business.

Originally specialists in precious metal testing Anchorcert Analytical continue to be market leaders at analysing all precious metals from 999 gold to trace levels of platinum.   

However the scope of services offered has expanded enormously and the team at AnchorCert Analytical are for example now well established as Europe’s leading specialists in nickel testing, offering their unique quick nickel test supported by an in depth understanding of the process.

As EU legislation applicable to jewellery and fashion accessories has developed, so the investment in the resources of the laboratory has increased. New equipment and qualified specialist staff have resulted in a service offering testing compliant with EU, American and Canadian legislation for many consumer product safety regulations applicable to the jewellery and accessories market. These relate to the content or release levels of toxic elements such as lead, cadmium, Chromium VI and other potential  carcinogens including azo dyes, formaldehyde and phthalates to name a few.  AnchorCert Analytical offer UKAS accredited chemical testing to ensure compliance with the REACH Regulation, RoHS, the Toy Safety Regulation and American CPSIA standards amongst others.

The expansion of AnchorCert Analytical and the specialist needs of its high-tech equipment in terms of climate control, fire retention, gas supply and health and safety have been a significant driver in the Assay Office Birmingham’s decision to move to a purpose built building later this year.  Technical Director Dippal Manchanda who has driven the development of the analytical laboratory over the past 12 years says, “The move and the rebrand mark a very significant stage in our growth. We have expanded as far as we can within the constraints of our current building. The move will unlock new potential for expansion and the prospects are very exciting”

Users can search by test type or product type, making it easy to find the information required.  Online submission forms and downloadable information are all designed to provide a user friendly site whether it be accessed from a pc  or mobile device.
