EXPERT ANALYSIS ACROSS A RANGE OF SECTORS

Assay Office Birmingham staff were recently given the opportunity to purchase jewellery items which were generously donated by customers. The money raised from this initiative has now been donated to the Birmingham based Cure Leukaemia charity.

Cure Leukaemia was established in 2003 to allow patients with blood cancer to access the remarkably effective and new treatments that are continually being developed. Did you know that anyone can develop leukaemia at any age? Although it is more common in adults, leukaemia is the most common form of childhood cancer, with most children diagnosed under the age of 5. Robert Bridgeman, who is Head of Communications at Cure Leukaemia and Jackie Kelly, Head of Corporate Partnerships were presented with a cheque for several hundred pounds by Chief Executive and Assay Master Stella Layton, Pictured here.

Upon receiving the cheque, Robert commented “We rely heavily on the support of people and businesses like yourselves to help us so that we can employ our elite team of specialist nurses and develop effective new treatments in order to continue our work. A huge thank you to Assay Office Birmingham for this very generous donation." The 'Power of 10' means that all funds donated to Cure Leukaemia work 10 times as hard, providing them with the opportunity to find a cure faster. The total amount raised for Cure Leukaemia by Assay Office Birmingham will therefore actually be increased by ten fold as it will go towards drug treatments for patients. This year Geoff Thomas, an ex England, Wolves and Crystal Palace midfielder who is now a Patron of Cure Leukaemia is going to take on the challenge of cycling from London all the way to Paris!

Geoff is hoping to raise over £2 million pounds in two years for Cure Leukaemia. It’s been a decade since Professor Charlie Craddock and his team of clinicians at the Centre for Clinical Haematology saved Geoff's life and now he wants to raise money to help support their charity.
