EXPERT ANALYSIS ACROSS A RANGE OF SECTORS

Chairman of The Birmingham Assay Office, Kay Alexander and CEO and Assay Master, Michael Allchin were delighted to welcome The Past Masters from the Livery Companies and their wives to the Assay Office. The Livery Companies represented included the Arbitrators, Tallow Chandlers, Bakers, Glass Sellers, Firefighters, Cutlers, Carpenters, Founders, Actuaries, and Guild of Freemen. Mr Duncan Cadbury lead the party and during their stay in Birmingham they also took in a tour of Jaguar, a visit to Symphony Hall and of course sampled the delights of a famous Birmingham Curry. The highlight of their visit to this wonderful City was undoubtedly their tour of the Assay Office. The Past Livery Masters and their wives were given an outline of the history of the organisation and it's Hallmarking activities. Michael Allchin gave them an overview of the state of the jewellery industry and how Birmingham is always looking to innovate, improve and extend its services. The visitors were able to view the hallmarking floor and gain an understanding of the processes and technology used today. The Curator, Craig O'Donnell completed the tour with a visit to our private silver collection and extensive library.
